About The Cultural Treasures

Haverhill's Cultural Treasures was formed in 2007 as a collaboration of five non-profit cultural organizations in the Greater Haverhill Area. The member organizations, listed below, collectively promote history, science, arts and culture through events and programming.

Winnekenni Castle is an historic landmark built of native stone by Dr. James R. Nichols as his summer home. Located within Winnekenni Park which spans more than 200 acres of conservation land, the Castle serves today as a cultural center which hosts both public and private events. www.winnekenni.com

Tattersall Farm is a 150 acre property with conservation areas and open space. It consists of hayfields, meadows and both open and wooded paths for passive recreational activities. 978-372-0861. www.tattersallfarm.org

Buttonwoods Museum/Haverhill Historical Society is an active community museum that strives to preserve Haverhill?s history through public programming for all ages, interpretation of its three historic structures and the exhibition of its collections. www.haverhillhistory.org

Whittier Birthplace is the homestead of Quaker poet and abolitionist John Greenleaf Whittier. Visitors experience the life of an early New England farm family and enjoy the pastoral pleasures of hiking and picnicking on the grounds. www.johngreenleafwhittier.org
